California State Retirees takes advocacy seriously. When many members reported difficulty accessing covered dental care through Delta Dental, CSR leaders raised the issue with state officials.
Following months of dialogue, CalHR Director Eraina Ortega officially addressed CSR’s concerns in writing. In a letter to CSR President Stephanie Hueg, Ortega vowed to help maintain the state’s dental programs. The letter also explained some of the trends affecting Delta Dental’s provider network.
“CalHR will continue to monitor the issue to ensure Delta Dental works to enhance their provider network and bring broader provider access to participants,” Ortega wrote.
CalHR serves as benefit administrator for CalPERS state retiree dental plans. Delta Dental is the insurance carrier.
