CalPERS Provides Updates on Data Breach

Below is an update on the PBI security breach as of Friday, Aug. 4:

  • Experian has enrolled approximately 144,000 CalPERS members in credit monitoring. This represents approximately 19% of all members impacted. 
  • Experian has received more than 40,870 calls. The average wait time is 1 1/2 mins.
  • CalPERS’ Contact Center has received more than 4,835 calls and we have responded to more than 2,872 emails to the dedicated incident email box at PBIquestions@calpers.ca.gov and myCalPERS secure emails. (Please note the updated figure of responded emails from the week of 7/28 was 2,561).
  • CalPERS continues to update the Frequently Asked Questions on its website based on feedback from members and stakeholders.
