CalPERS | FAQs on Camp, Hill and Woolsey Wildfires

Posted 5 years 163 days ago ago by Jamee Villa

A message from CalPERS:

Dear Valued Stakeholders,

As you know, many Californians have been impacted by the Camp (Butte County), Hill (Ventura County) and Woolsey (Los Angeles County) wildfires. To address potential concerns about health coverage for members, HPAD reached out to our health plans to ensure their readiness and business continuity.

In Butte County, patients from Feather River Hospital in Paradise have been transferred to Enloe Medical Center in Chico. All elective surgeries are being canceled and will be rescheduled. In the event Chico area hospitals are ordered to evacuate, patients could be transferred to medical facilities in the Oroville area.

Please be assured Anthem is fully engaged with our provider partners in Butte County to fully support all necessary activities to serve our members in the Butte County community.    Anthem will ensure nothing in our benefit or operational structures hinders care in any way.

Our network team is making outbound calls this morning to better access the situation and to provide support.

•    Our network team has confirmed that a written extension w/ Enloe Medical Center through December 31st.  The rates will be the same as the rates prior to the termination.  Anthem and Enloe are aligned to ensure all of our members get the care they need.

•    Enloe has posted the following message on their website:
In response to the Camp Fire, Enloe Medical Center is working with authorities and other area hospitals to help those affected. If you are evacuated, please remember to take your medication and oxygen, and stay safe. Please also help us keep our Emergency Department available for those who need it by using our Prompt Care facilities if you are not facing a life-threatening issue. Thank you. Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected.
•    In addition, all area urgent care centers are offering extended hours of operation to support urgent care needs. We expect to have more information to share in the early afternoon.

•    Anthem, as the health plan, will continue to ensure there are no concerns about benefit, but fully support receiving needed medical care.

Please see the attached FAQ document that serves as an overview of what our health plans can provide to impacted or displaced members.
