Susan Sears was elected in February 2011 as executive vice president on the California State Retirees Board of Directors and later became president when Roger Marxen decided not to run for president. Susan served as president of CSR until 2013.
She has served on the board as the District D representative since March 2010 when she was appointed to replace Earl Millard, who stepped down because of medical reasons. She was then re-elected to the board in 2012 and again in 2015.
District D includes Chapters 8, 13, 14 and 19 within the counties of Butte, Del Norte, Glenn, Humboldt, Lake, Lassen, Plumas, Mendocino, Modoc, Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama and Trinity.
Prior to her appointment on the board, Sears served as the Chapter 14 president in the Northern California/Chico area since 2007.
Before retiring in 2000, Sears was a warehouse worker, who drove a truck and used a forklift for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, which is now known as Cal Fire. Before that, she worked as a dispatcher for Caltrans.
“I attend as many chapter meetings as possible because I want to get to know everyone in District D and help wherever I'm needed,” Sears said.
